American-born singer, songwriter, musician and artist Jeb Loy Nicholls will headline a stellar bill of local and national artists.

Complementing the musicians will be a host of DJs playing a sunshine selection of folk, rock, jazz, world and Balearic for the perfect summer soundtrack.

For the meat eaters Bunny BBQ will be serving up locally sourced top quality burgers and hot dogs and Satsuma Pop Up Bistro will be offering a vegetarian and vegan barbecue.

There will be real ale and ciders from Spitting Feathers and Azulito Coffee will be providing proper quality coffee served from an Italian APE cart.

Comic Con

Kae Alexander from Game Of Thrones

The CL Comic Con is being hosted at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Chester on Saturday, August 27 with guest star appearances from several movies and TV shows.

This event is a must for any Game of Thrones fans as Kae Alexander (also known as Leaf) will appear for photo and autograph opportunities as well as an amazing replica of the Iron Throne.

Guest stars from Doctor Who , Storage Hunters, Star Wars and Pawn Stars will also attend.

Traders ranging from costume manufacturers, sweet stalls, comic books and artwork will be around the venue.

There will also be a cosplay championship competition where someone will walk away with a cash prize of £250.

Free family sports day at Nuffield Chester

Nuffield Health Chester will host a retro sports day and group dog walk on Saturday, August 27 to celebrate Team GB’s achievements at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

Events include a 45-60 minute dog walking event around the Duke’s Drive for all the family to enjoy from 9- 10am and a fun packed two hours of Retro Sports Gamesfrom 11am-1pm at Nuffield Health Chester, CH4 7QP.

Rise Above Sportive

Olympic silver medalist Mark Cavendish will stage his Rise Above Sportive in Chester again this summer

Olympic silver medallist, 30-time Tour de France stage winner and 2011 World Road Race Champion Mark Cavendish will be in Chester on Sunday, August 28 for the return of his Rise Above Sportive.

Mark himself will be present on the day again to ride on the course, meet some of the riders and hand out finishing medals.

There are three routes again – Enthusiast 80km, Purist 120km, Extremist 160km. The ride will capture scenic forestry roads, linked with breath-taking views and iconic Welsh landscapes including the famous Horseshoe Pass. The ride is full of challenging climbs and inspiring countryside as well as riding on closed roads in Chester.
