Shoppers and visitors to Chester will be expecting a right royal Christmas after spotting the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in the city sporting Santa suits.

The look-a-like royal models, in Bridge Street, are promoting this year’s Santa Dash fundraiser which takes place on Sunday, December 6.

The 3.3km route starts in Castle Drive at the University of Chester Riverside building and finishes in Bridge Street close to William and Kate.

The event, now in its fifth year, is supported by Virgin Money and is jointly organised by two charities - the Hospice of the Good Shepherd and the Babygrow Appeal at the Countess of Chester hospital.

Families with prams and well behaved dogs are welcome to join in the fun which starts with a warm up at 9.15am hosted by Dee 106.3 and then the Dash will officially be started at 10am by double Olympic medallist Rebecca Romero.

Rebecca, who lives in Chester with husband Nick and their 18 month old son, will also be handing out medals at the finishing line.

Tissue viability nurse at the Countess Carolynne Sinclair is taking part with three generations of her family including daughter Leanne and granddaughters Mia, Ellie & Amelia.

Carolynne said: “I am really looking forward to the Dash on Sunday – it’s a great way to get into the festive spirit and do something together as a family whilst supporting two great charities.”
