Pupils at Chester's King's School are putting on a production of the musical The Producers this week.

Based on Mel Brooks’ much-loved Academy Award-winning film, the show has a cast of 27 from Year 9 to the sixth form and a band of nine.

Directed by head of drama Julia Williams, the story focuses on two theatrical producers, Max Bialystock (played by Laurence Ankers) and Leo Bloom (Thomas Cuffin-Munday) who scheme their way into getting rich by overselling interests in a Broadway flop.

The Producers is at the school’s Vanbrugh Theatre from March 10-13 at 7.30pm. Tickets £10 (concessions £8) by email boxoffice@kingschester.co.uk. or online at www.kingschester.co.uk/theatre.
