Fearless runners will tackle the ‘toughest half marathon in the world’ through Delamere Forest on Saturday (October 17).

Hundreds are expected to take part in the Brooks Hell up North.

A gruelling 13.1-mile course at the site near Frodsham promises to push competitors to their limits.

Past years have seen fancy dress pirates, brides and cavemen line up on the starting line.

The Hell up North course is 100% natural using the terrain and mother nature to provide the challenge,

Tests include a chest-high wade through Lucifer’s Lido, the Bog of Doom and a hose wash.

Among the competitors will be Zoe Dixon, 42, three years after the mum-of-two broke her back on holiday and was told she would never run again.

A 21-strong team from the Countess of Chester Hospital will also be taking part.

Alongside the main event will be the 1.5-mile Little Devil’s Fun Run for children.

The HellRunner series is now in its 12th year with other events in the South and Buckinghamshire.
