Actors from stage and screen will perform festive readings at the 20th annual Spirit of Christmas concert at Chester Cathedral this year.

Some of the names revealed for this year’s carol concert on November 27, which is organised every year by the Neuromuscular Centre (NMC), are actors Brian Protheroe who starred as Samuel Walker in Spooks, Carolyn Pickles, best known for her role as Shelly Williams in Emmerdale and Casualty actress Georgia Taylor, known to many as Toyah Battersby in Coronation Street.

Stars in Their Eyes host Matthew Kelly, the NMC’s Celebrity President, will again compere the evening, introducing performances from Roberts Bakery Brass Band, the Queen’s School Chamber Choir and Victoria Wicks who played Dorothy in The Imitation Game.

Previous line-ups at the concert have included Benedict Cumberbatch, Carey Mulligan, Sir Derek Jacobi, Jim Broadbent, Alison Steadman and Alan Rickman to name but a few.

Ticket prices start at £12.50 and can be purchased online: www.nmcentre.com or by phoning 01606 861733.

Doors open at 7pm and the concert will begin at 7.30pm.

For £50 you can enjoy Central Nave seating for a better view of the concert, plus the opportunity to mingle with the celebrities afterwards in a champagne and canapé reception at the Cathedral’s Refectory.
