BBC television‘s Sewing Bee’ favourite Paul Clarke will be holding free sewing demonstrations in Chester this weekend aimed at those planning a wedding or getting ready for a prom.

Ellesmere Port-based Paul will be at Abakhan’s Chester store on Sunday, March 13, to demonstrate how to make his trademark waistcoat and pocket square.

The workshops are part of three days of activities in the store designed to inspire those getting ready for their big day.

The demonstrations, which start on Friday, March 11, will include everything from card making, customising a bodice and wedding stationery to choosing dress patterns, creating chair bows or making buttonholes

There will also be the opportunity to learn more about designing wreaths and making lace or hessian bunting for that celebratory event.

Inspiration

Marketing director for the family-run firm Beth Abakhan said: “We are absolutely delighted to have Paul join our demonstration and expert team. Not only is he talented at his craft, but Paul has a great personality that I’m sure will make his sessions entertaining as well as informative.

“The event is designed to help people gain inspiration, ideas to create their special occasion. By personalising aspects of your big event, whether it's a wedding or a school prom, you are making something totally unique and unforgettable.”

The free demonstrations will take place across all eight stores in Mostyn, Manchester, Liverpool, Birkenhead, Bolton, Chester, Hanley and Preston.

At certain stores customers will be able to “make and take” their designs home with them.

Abakhan are also launching a loyalty card and there will be 15% discount on selected lines.
