Chester Cathedral

Cards for Good Causes seasonal shops open from today at Chester Cathedral and the Wesley Church Centre, St John Street, Chester. Staffed by volunteers the outlets sells cards for more than 30 charities including The Hospice of the Good Shepherd, NW Cancer Research and St John's Hospice. They are open 10am to 4pm until December 15.

3. Chester Photographic Society

Grosvenor Museum

Chester Photographic Society meeting at the Grosvenor Museum at 7.30pm with presentation entitled Invention and Reinvention - A journey in photography across genre and time by Lorentz Gullachsen. Lorentz has been shooting internationally for over 25 years for advertising, editorial, corporate and stock. Working from bases in London, Stratford-upon-Avon in the Warwickshire countryside as well as serving such local commercial hubs as Leamington Spa, Warwick and Birmingham. His clients include Land-Rover, Honda, O2, Vodafone, many tourist boards and airlines. His awards include gold, silver and merits from the Association of Photographers, which are the equivalent of the Oscars for the photographic industry, together with awards from London Photographic Association, D&AD and the Royal Photographic Society. Little Shop of Horrors by Howard Ashman and Alan Menken in the Anthony Hopkins Theatre at Clwyd Theatr Cymru at 7.30pm. A 1950s sci-fi spoof musical with a hilarious and fearsome plot and a collection of great songs – and lots of foliage! The musical score, 1960s rock ‘n’ roll and early Motown, is by Alan Menken, Oscar-winning composer known for a string of Disney film scores which include The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast. Seymour Krelborn is a struggling assistant in Mushnik’s Florists, with a secret passion for his colleague Audrey. When he brings in an exotic plant its unique qualities bring him instant fame. Will Audrey love him now? But the plant’s sinister and murderous feeding habits become more and more demanding. Directed by Tim Baker, Clwyd Theatr Cymru’s award-winning associate artistic director.
