League of Gentleman writer Jeremy Dyson will join Liverpool horror king Ramsey Campbell to talk about the Playhouse’s The Haunting of Hill House next week.

The writers will be at the Playhouse Studio on Tuesday, January 5 for a special event before the evening’s performance of the psychological thriller.

They will be talking about horror writing, with aN emphasis on ‘the power of the unseen’ - Shirley Jackson, her influence and the power of suggestive terror.

In addition to writing The League of Gentleman, Jeremy Dyson co-created Ghost Stories which was a hit at the Playhouse five years ago before going into the West End.

He has also written several books including Bright Darkness: Lost Art of the Supernatural Horror Film and The Haunted Book which chronicles true life ghost stories from around the UK.

Meanwhile Ramsey Campbell is widely regarded as one of the greatest living horror writers, and has won multiple British Fantasy and World Fantasy Awards and several Bram Stokers and International Horror Guild Awards.

The Liverpool-born author said: “Shirley Jackson’s brand of quiet insidious terror is unique and inimitable, and The Haunting of Hill House is her ghostly masterpiece, which unites the uncanny and the psychological in a highly personal tale.”

The event, supported by Waterstones, is at the Playhouse at 6pm on January 5, and tickets are £5.
