After two successful national tours and a year in the West End, the award-winning hit comedy Jeeves and Wooster in Perfect Nonsense arrives at Clwyd Theatr Cymru this week on its new UK tour.

Winner of Best New Comedy at the 2014 Olivier Awards, the charmingly incompetent Bertie Wooster and his unflappable valet Jeeves are brought to life in this highly acclaimed comedy by brothers Robert and David Goodale.

Based on the popular works of PG Wodehouse, this new touring production features Matthew Carter as Bertie Wooster. He starred in The Bill and The Princess of Wales on TV and, in a long stage career, The Mousetrap in London.

Joseph Chance, whose stage work includes seasons with the RSC and Propeller, plays Jeeves.

Co-writer Robert Goodale plays Aunt Dahlia’s butler Seppings. His first experience of Wodehouse came in his early 20s when his brother and a friend used to quote the prolific 20th century author during late night drinking sessions.

He then went on to perform two one man shows based on the material at the Edinburgh Festival. Perfect Nonsense the play came many years later in a writing collaboration with his brother David.

Perfect Nonsense is based on Wodehouse’s 1938 novel The Code of the Woosters, described by some critics as his best work.

This hilarious production layers joy on joy, joke on joke, in a delightful evening of theatrical absurdity featuring PG Wodehouse’s iconic double act.

When a country house weekend takes a turn for the worse, Bertie Wooster is unwittingly called on to play matchmaker and also to steal a silver cow creamer from Totleigh Towers.

Naturally, the ever dependable Jeeves is there to prevent Bertie from making a fool of himself in front of a cast of Wodehouse’s finest characters.

Enjoy an evening of raucous comedy in the company of Gussie Fink-Nottle, Madeline Bassett, Sir Watkin Bassett, Dahlia Travers, Roderick Spode and Constable Oates.
