Frodsham Players are proud to present their upcoming production of a much-loved children’s classic.
Jessica Swale’s adaptation of The Secret Garden will run at St Laurence Church in Frodsham from April 4-8.
The tale by Frances Hodgson Burnett tells the story of Mary Lennox who is sent back from a privileged life in India to live with her distant uncle on the Yorkshire Moors.
Frodsham Players have said the show is ‘suitable for all ages’ and the setting of the 11th century church only adds to the atmosphere.
Eva Lemmy stars as Mary, with Ian Lancaster as Archibald Craven and Catrin Jones as her maid Martha.
Swales’s adaptation of The Secret Garden also ran at Grosvenor Park in the summer of 2015.
Set in 1911, the tale begins with spoilt Mary, daughter of the Viceroy of India, waited on hand and foot by servants.
But her privileged life ends when she is orphaned and sent to live her widowed uncle at the ‘cold, forbidding and unwelcoming’ Misselthwaite Manor.
Strange noises convince Mary the house is haunted and she eventually finds friendship a among the servants, their families and the animals on the moor as she tries to solve the mystery of the manor.
Shows will be held at St Laurence on April 4, 5, 7 and 8 with doors at 7.30pm each night.
Tickets are priced at £9. They are available online at www.frodshamplayers.com, on 01928 732285 or at Dandelion on Church Street.
