Dancers from a Helsby school are putting on a festival of dance this week.
The Danash Stage School presents Viva La Fiesta at the community centre from October 21-24.
The show’s opening numbers bring the sunshine of Brazil to autumnal Helsby and the fun continues with Eurovision, Hans Christian Anderson and Disney themes as well as a taste of Scotland.
The stage school is a family affair - the youngest member of the cast is two-year-old Molly who is the third generation of Nash dancers. Mum Gette dances on stage, grandma Maureen directs and designs costumes for the show and auntie Beverley is choreographer.
Parents have been busily sewing magnificent costumes under Maureen’s guidance.
Judith Potts, chairman of the fundraising committee, said: “Parents and friends of the dance school have worked hard all year to fundraise in order for the show to go on. Even the girls themselves have been given a pound to ‘grow’ for us which they have done in a variety of ways - holding a Bake Off inspired afternoon tea, a camp out, a teddy tombola and tidying up their toys!
“We were also very fortunate in receiving a grant from Helsby Parish Council to replace vital parts of our aging set for which we are very grateful.”
Performances are from October 21-24, Wed, Thurs, Fri, Sat eve at 7pm and Saturday matinee at 2pm.
