Students at The King’s School will be marking the centenary of the First World War with an adaptation of the musical Oh What a Lovely War.
The production, at the school's Vanbrugh Theatre from March 12-15, is an entertaining and powerful commentary on the events of the war, built upon the songs that ordinary British soldiers sang during it.
The play begins with the depiction of the diplomatic manoeuvrings and events involving those in authority, set in a fantasy location far from the trenches.
The cast includes 39 students, a live band and will feature familiar songs such as It’s A Long Way to Tipperary and Pack up your Travels in Your Old Kit Bag .
