The sequins are getting ready to sparkle once again, as the new series of Strictly Come Dancing gets underway.

The phenomenally popular BBC One celebrity dancing show has returned to our screens, and the line-up is now complete.

Former shadow chancellor Ed Balls was the first name to be thrown onto the ballroom floor, during an interview with Radio 2 host Chris Evans last week.

Pop singer-turned West End star Will Young was announced as the second face set to feature in the 13th series of the dancing contest.

The Pop Idol winner, who is scheduled to headline this year's Manchester Pride Main Stage at the end of the month , has tweeted that he is 'so excited' to be stepping on the famous dancefloor.

Since then, a number of further names have been confirmed, including former Eternal singer Louise Redknapp and former Hollyoaks actor Danny Mac.

Danny played Mark 'Dodger' Savage, the boyfriend of Jorgie Porter's character Theresa McQueen, in the Channel Four soap.

He is engaged to former Hollyoaks star Carley Stenson from Billinge Higher End, Wigan, who tweeted: "Proud and crazy excited."

Popstar Anastacia, who headlined Manchester Pride in 2015, has revealed that despite her performance background, dancing is not her strong point.

"I stink - do you really want me on the show?"

"I'm serious," the 47-year-old told Radio 2 host Chris Evans. "I'm not lying about it at all. I just finished 62 dates on tour so I'm really good at rhythm and sidestepping - as far as to my own music. But… uh oh."

British athlete ClaudiaFragapane is swapping the gym floor with the dancefloor as the latest Olympic star has signed up to take part in the show.

The young gymnast, who competed in Rio, will follow in the dancesteps of her Team GB team-mate Louis Smith, who won Strictly in 2012

Great Britain's Claudia Fragapane

Claudia is not the only Olympian to take a break from her sport to tap her feet, with long jumper Greg Rutherford heading straight from the sandpit to the mastering foxtrot.

Manchester United fan former London 2012 champion Greg will be hoping he can lift the famous glitterball trophy, after just missing out on retaining his Olympic title in Rio.

British model Daisy Lowe will be swapping catwalk for dancefloor as the 27-year-old gears up to slip into some sequins.

She is the love child of rock star Gavin Rossdale.

Daisy said: "She said: "I am used to being on the catwalk and campaigns of major fashion brands with lots of eyes on me but this is completely different from anything I have ever done before!
"My family and friends and I adore Strictly, so when the chance came up to take part - I jumped at it! I am itching to get started and am so looking forward to learning a new skill."

TV presenter Laura Whitmore has also joined the Strictly family. She broke the news on Nick Grimshaw's BBC Radio 1 Breakfast Show.

BBC hosts Ore Oduba, Naga Munchetty and Kiss FM DJ Melvin Odoom are also taking part.

Judge Rinder revealed he would be trading the court room for the ballroom when rehearsals start next month.

The ITV star told Scott Mills on his Radio 1 Show that he is taking part in the contest.

Birds of a Feather star Lesley Joseph is also a contestant, with Eastenders actress Tameka Empson completing the 2016 line-up

Hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman recently revealed that they have been told who all the contestant are for the upcoming series, but have been sworn to secrecy.

Winkleman said: "There's something for everyone... there's young, there's old, there's small, there's tall, there's cuddly, there's abrasive.

"Actually there's no abrasive ones, I miss the abrasive ones."

Strictly returns to BBC One on Saturday, September 3.
