THREE star names have been revealed for a series of Audience With... events as part of the first ever Chestival extravaganza.
Chestival, sponsored by Bank of America, will bring Chester alive for 34 days and 34 nights this summer.
And for three days in June, Chester Racecourse will play host to three exciting cultural evenings with speakers Dan Snow, Robert Lindsay and Sir Ranulph Fiennes.
Each evening will invite guests to find out what motivates and excites the speakers, how they got started, why they love what they do, with an opportunity for guests to ask questions and delve even deeper into the lives of these inspiring individuals.
The first evening on June 22 at 7pm will see broadcaster and writer Dan Snow take to the stage.
Snow has a first-class degree in history from Oxford, where he developed a passion for military history. He also found time to row and was in the winning crew in the 2000 Boat Race.
Hot on Dan’s heals is celebrated actor Robert Lindsay, who will be speaking on June 23 at Chester Racecourse.
Lindsay is known worldwide for his portrayal of Ben Harper in the award-winning television comedy series My Family.
He has also played Tony Blair in The Trial Of Tony Blair, and worked with Stephen Poliakoff in My Friends And Crocodiles and with Alan Bleasdale in GBH, for which he won a BAFTA.
He has acted at the RSC and the National Theatre, and won a Tony Award for his performance in Me And My Girl on Broadway.Š
The final Audience With... evening will feature Sir Ranulph Fiennes. Sir Ranulph is the first person in history to reach the world’s highest peak and to cross both the world’s ice caps and has led over 30 expeditions.
In l993 he was awarded an OBE because, on the way to breaking records, he has raised over £10 million for charity.
In his latest book Mad Dogs and Englishmen (finished at Everest base camp) he traces the Fiennes family back to about 800AD.
John Greaves, communications executive at Bank of America, said: “We expect Chestival to be a true success story of the summer and events and speakers of this calibre should certainly get people talking.
“We are proud to sponsor Chestival and to show our support for the culture of the city and its people. There are many exciting events to bring our city alive this summer.”
Chief executive of Chester Race Company, Richard Thomas, added: “We are very much looking forward to have these exceptional speakers here at Chester Racecourse.
“With our award winning restaurant on site for a bite to eat after the performance as well as the exquisite backdrop of the course itself, events at Chester Racecourse offer guests that something special that no other venue can provide and we look forward to hosting many more in the coming months.”
