A music society will step into spring to conclude its season.

Ellesmere Port Music Society will round off its year’s programme on Saturday, April 23 with a concert entitled Step into Spring featuring music by John Rutter, Ralph Vaughan Williams and composer and conductor Bob Chilcott said to be one of the most widely performed composers of choral music in the world.

The society will sing Sprig of Thyme, a selection of folk-song settings of old childhood favourites and more by John Rutter, In Windsor Forest, an operatic cantata by Ralph Vaughan Williams that includes woodland dwellers and fairy folk and Songs and Cries of London Town by Bob Chilcott, a rhythmical and lively cantata of old London street vendor calls including cries of herrings and sausages.

The concert will be led by the society’s music director Lloyd Buck with duet piano accompaniment by Stephenie Leung and Benjamin Powell. Julie Kench will be the soprano soloist.
