A crowd of more than 100 people turned out to Mickle Trafford Village Club for an evening with some 1980s chart-toppers.

Dr and the Medics, who had a number one in 1986 with Spirit in the Sky, played a special Halloween gig in what organisers described as a ‘fantastic night’.

There was great applause when ‘The Doctor’, lead singer Clive Jackson, announced the band’s best known song had entered the Starfleet Top 50 Dance Chart at number 22, and the band played for more than an hour, accompanied by the audience.

Jane Spence from the club said: “We were lucky enough to be the first to see a brand new costume which will become part of the show and it brought the house down.

“Mickle Trafford Village Club are very proud to have been able to stage this event and are delighted that it was so well attended. We can’t promise chart-topping artists for every event but we do promise to provide entertainment and social facilities for the local community in the future.”
