Award-winning West End performer Dean Elliot leads a cast of talented actors and musicians in The Simon and Garfunkel Story at Crewe’s Lyceum Theatre this week month.

With 50 years elapsed since recording their first hit single, The Sounds of Silence, which shot them to fame overnight, The Simon and Garfunkel Story is a celebration of Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel.

The show is a re-telling the tale of how two young boys from Queens, New York went on to become one of the most successful folk/rock duos of all time giving audiences enough reason to applaud and cheer after every performance.

The Simon and Garfunkel Story features West End leading man Dean as Paul Simon, who shot to fame in the West End as lead actor in Olivier Award nominated musical Buddy – The Buddy Holly Story, Jonny Smart takes up the role of Garfunkel.

Before Buddy, Dean trained at Sir Paul McCartney’s Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (Lipa) and other notable theatre work includes Over The Rainbow – The Eva Cassidy Story (UK No1 Tour), Release The Beat (Arcola Theatre, London) and the multi award winning Ed – The Musical.

Starting from their humble beginnings as 50s Rock n Roll duo Tom & Jerry, The Simon and Garfunkel Story takes you through all the songs and stories that shaped them, the dramatic split, their individual solo careers and ending with a stunning recreation of the legendary 1981 Central Park reunion concert.

They had their first taste of success with the minor hit Hey Schoolgirl. Their music was featured in the landmark film The Graduate, propelling them further into the public consciousness.

They ended up as musical legends, a status that was further consolidated by solo success for both of them, followed by some high profile and incredibly popular reunion concerts.

Using both original photographs and film footage, the show also features a full live band performing in stunning style all of Simon and Garfunkel’s hits.

With fantastic recreations of Mrs Robinson, Cecilia, Bridge Over Troubled Water, Homeward Bound, The Sound of Silence and many more this night of beautiful music is sure to please music lovers of all generations.

Hailed as ‘authentic and exciting’ by The Stage, and called ‘fantastic’ on BBC Radio 2, The Simon and Garfunkel Story promises a theatrical evening celebrating 50 years of folk/rock music magic.
