Jez Kerr, the bassist/vocalist from A Certain Ratio, one of the cornerstones of Manchester music, is coming to Telford’s Warehouse in Chester on Thursday, June 18.

A Certain Ratio regularly supported Joy Division and were New York favourites in the early 80s.

His first solo single Play Sumthing Fast was critically acclaimed by the music press and had many airings on BBC 6 Music and Radio 2. It was nominated as single of the week on The Radcliffe and Maconie Show.

Jez followed this up with a solo album Numb Mouth Eat Waste which received five star reviews in Q magazine, Mojo magazine and The Guardian.

Live performances followed including gigs alongside The Fall, Badly Drawn Boy, Mark Stewart (The Pop Group), The Lovely Eggs and most recently supporting New Order on their latest UK tour.

His new solo single Control Myself is out now on Welsh indie Higuera Records.

Jez did a well received session on Marc Riley’s BBC 6 music radio show in January 2015.

This will be a warm-up gig for his forthcoming festival appearances at Kendal Calling and Number 6 Festival where he will play alongside Grace Jones, Elbow, Snoop Dogg, The Vaccines, Mark Ronson, James, Belle and Sebastian, Badly Drawn Boy, Metronomy, Kaiser Chiefs and many more.
