Pascal and Ami Rogé are coming to play piano solos and duets for the Chester Music Society Celebrity Concert in St Mary’s Centre at 7.30pm on Wednesday, February 10.
Pascal Rogé is a virtuoso French pianist whose playing exemplifies elegance and subtlety in his interpretation of the works of compatriot French composers.
At 17, he gave his first recitals in major European cities and landed an exclusive contract with Decca. He is especially known for his interpretation of French music and in Chester he will play several solos by Satie, including Gymnopedies 1. It is Satie’s 160th birthday year.
For several years, Pascal has enjoyed playing recitals with his partner in life and in music Ami Rogé. Together, they have travelled the world appearing in New York Carnegie Hall, Hong Kong, the Beijing International Piano Festival, and numerous others.
Ami Rogé is a versatile performer of solo piano, chamber music, harpsichord and basso continuo with baroque ensembles.
Pascal’s solos will be interspersed with duets with Ami including Debussy’s Petit Suite, Ravel’s Ma Mère L’Oye, Poulenc’s Sonate and works by Milhaud, Honeger and other French composers who formed themselves into a group called Les Six.
Tickets are £14 and available from 07831 710558, the Visitor Information Centre, Town Hall Square, Chester or via the website www.chestermusicsociety.org.uk.
