Alexander's in Chester opens its door to The Sounds of Simon, one of Britain’s leading Simon and Garfunkel  tribute bands, on Sunday, June 22.

The show is a celebration of the early days of Simon and Garfunkel and evokes the early New York coffee house shows the duo played back in the 60s.

“This is a chance to hear the songs as they originally sounded,” says Adam Ellis, who plays Art in the show.

“Just two voices and one guitar in a hushed room.”

The show covers all the early classics, from The Sound of Silence and Homeward Bound to seldom heard classics like A Poem on the Underground Wall and A Most Peculiar Man.

Ben Bowden, who plays Paul, was recently featured on BBC’s The One Show, performing as Paul Simon and talking about Paul’s visit to England in 1965.

It was on this trip that Paul reputedly wrote his hit Homeward Bound.

The 2014 Old Friends Tour started in January and will continue throughout the year.

Tickets are £7 in advance/£9 on the door. Call to book on 01244 340005 or go online at www.alexanderslive.com.
