Singers in Aldford have celebrated a whole year of song.

The Aldford Singers are a fun, friendly, mixed community choir who have celebrated being together for a year with a bang at Caldy Valley Community Centre with a successful Friends and Family Concert followed by buffet party and entertainment.

The choir was founded twelve months ago by choir manager Ann Yates who wanted to bring together people who love to sing from all walks of life – people who have sung for years with a wealth of experience to join together with people who never imagined that they could possibly sing in a choir.

Led by musical director Will Hay and talented accompanist Jeremy Heald, the choir performs to raise money for local charities.

They have also raised £153 for the BIRD (brain injury rehabilitation and development) charity, of Eccleston.

The choir has a wide repertoire ranging from pop to classical music and are holding a workshop with Chester composer and musical director Matt Baker on Saturday, October 11, in Aldford Village Hall.

The choir is also working on its repertoire for a First World War Commemoration, which is to be held on the afternoon of November 8 at Aldford Village Hall.

The Aldford Singers are now enrolling for new members from all sections. There are no auditions and it doesn’t matter if you can’t read music or have no past experience. Rehearsals are every Tuesday evening from September 2 at Aldford Village Hall from 7.30-9.30 with a weekly fee of £4.
