The stars were out for the opening of a new Indian restaurant in Northwich this week.

Frodsham’s Jude Cissé and friend and fellow WAG Chantelle Heskey were VIP guests at the launch of Holdi on Manchester Road on Thursday night (February 11) .

Jude, who was married to ex-Liverpool striker Djibril Cissé, and Chantelle, married to former Liverpool FC striker Emile Heskey, joined locals at the event where they sampled Indian canapes and enjoyed fire shows and performances from traditional Bhangra dancers and drummers.

Rukon Kamaly was born in Bangladesh and started cooking while in his early teens while training in London.

His restaurant features an authentic Indian cuisine with more than 100 items to choose from mild to the wildly pungent.

He said: “People are often astounded and say they have never tasted food like this before. I tell them they are right. I have created this unique menu from scratch and so they won’t have tasted food like this anywhere before!”

The Northwich restaurant is the third Holdi establishment in the North West and Rukon counts Liverpool footballers amongst their regulars, as well as Hollyoaks actors, celebrity WAGs, Liverpool TV stars and musicians.

He said: “It doesn’t matter how famous the customer is, our focus is on the cuisine and the customer service. It is the primarily the food that will bring customers back. The all-round experience of course, has to be good – but we are known for our exquisite food.”

Holdi was recently shortlisted for Best Newcomer at the British Curry Awards at a star studded ceremony in Battersea.

Mr Kamaly said: “I was absolutely thrilled to be considered – and to be recognised as one of the three best newcomers in the entire United Kingdom made us all feel very proud. These awards are The Oscars of The Indian Restaurant industry and it showed that all our hard work is paying off.”

In 2013 the Liverpool restaurant won Favourite Restaurant at the Liverpool Food and Drinks Awards.
