You may have noticed there’s a new bar in town.

Ginger, where Harvest Moon used to be on Northgate Street, is Chester’s up and coming deli-bar, promising delicious food, live music and simply being ‘somewhere to enjoy good wine, relax and nibble at pates and cheeses’.

Behind the venture is Jade Barrett and her mum Sandra, who had wanted to set up their own business for years, but it wasn’t until Sandra got the all clear from cancer that they felt life was too short not to take the plunge .

This they did, and they have been working non stop over the past few weeks to get Ginger customer-ready in time for its official opening on Thursday (November 19).

Ahead of this, The Chronicle had an exclusive first look inside what you can expect from Ginger, which has a license to serve its fine wines and craft ales until 10.30pm.

What's on the menu?

We sampled the delicious platters featuring home made, locally sourced produce such as feta and red pepper tarts, a variety of olives, cheese and pates and fresh home-made bread which are available all day.

Or if you’re more of a morning person, Jade has even created a special breakfast roll made from parma ham, sauteed mushrooms and Spanish cheese foccaccia. There is also home made granola, yogurt and fresh fruit for those who prefer a lighter option

What can you expect from Ginger?

“The idea behind Ginger is that it’s somewhere to meet your friends, catch up over a bottle of wine and just unwind,” says Jade. “Think of us like a regular deli with breads, cheeses, charcuterie, cakes, pastries and more. We’ll be a regular deli you can take away or take a seat.

“You can expect a really friendly, warm welcome - great wine, coffee, nibbles and a relaxed atmosphere,” she promises.

When can you go?

Ginger opens on Thursday November 19 at 12noon but normal opening hours are 8am-10.30pm.
