Award-winning Hawarden Estate Farm Shop is to open an outlet at Broughton Shopping Park in the run-up to Christmas.

Joining the likes of Prezzo and Chiquito, staff aim to bring a traditional village shop selling home-grown food to the retail park.

Traditional values

Shop manager Alan Downes said: “Firmly believing in the traditional village shop, where friendliness, service and putting the customer first are core values, the general store and cafe will offer a combination of cafe, general food store and homewares shop.

“Whilst the outlook is old-fashioned, the design ethic is modern; an environment unlike anything else, housed in a converted shipping container.”

He added: “Today everyone uses words like ‘seasonal’ and ‘local’ and most of them are talking nonsense; but the Hawarden Estate Farm Shop has form here, it grows and raises much of the food it sells on its own farm and works with a large, established network of efficient local suppliers.

“Food will be offered to eat in or take away, from breakfast to early supper.

“The cafe will also serve the very best coffee by roaster and espresso specialist Allpress, a small company founded in New Zealand in 1986 and widely regarded as one of the finest small batch producers anywhere in the world.”
