Revellers will be able to sample free taster dishes from a new menu being launched at Chester venue Alexander’s this Saturday (August 6).

New owner Jamie Northrop continues to ring the changes at the music and comedy venue in Rufus Court off Northgate Street.

Jamie is keeping the majority of the menu under wraps for now but has revealed a few of his favourite new dishes.

These are the coronation jerked doorstop sandwich from the daytime menu priced £8 and creamy pesto smoked mozzarella chicken, priced £13.50, from the pre-show dinner and à la carte menu.

The new Alexander's menu available from Sunday August 7.

The venue will be open, with free admission, throughout the day and night on Saturday with live music from artist in residence, Ashley Fayth between 4-6pm and followed by The Amber Kuti & Jacob Dodds duo.

Taster dishes from the new menu will be served from 8pm.

Jamie, who took over ownership of the venue last November 2015, says the menu ideas developed as he became better acquainted with the venue and its customer base.

He said: “When considering our new menu it has been tricky to decide what stays and what goes. So often in Chester I get fed up of dining in the same restaurants and find it tricky to know where to go to please a group that may not all want to eat one type of cuisine. That being said, I didn't want to make an over complicated menu either so striking a good balance was essential.”

Jamie is keen to continue using local suppliers and believes their burgers are the best around.

Jay Peers-Bow, Alexander’s new head chef, has 14 years’ experience in the industry having specialised in a variety of cuisines over the years including his favourites – French and American.

He said: “Gaining a good understanding of so many cuisines has really allowed me to hone my skills and create new flavours that complement each other fantastically.”

Jay has also been working hard on vegan and gluten free options for many of the meals.

The new menu will be available from Sunday August 7 when roast dinners will also be served from 1-5pm.
