BRITNEY Spears makes her acting debut in Crossroads, one of those movies which you may feel you have seen before.

It's about three school friends who meet up later in life and take a journey across the country.

Spears is the studious one who falls for one of her friends's pals on the journey while Zoe Saldana is the cheerleader and big High School star and Taryn Manning the pregnant girl who doesn't like the father.

They set off across the States for different reasons, in Spears's case to find her long-lost mother, played by Merseyside born Kim Cattrall.

Spears does a reasonable job in this cliched tale, naturally being given a chance to sing.

And the others in their toothy way aren't too bad. But it is Cattrall - of Sex and the City - who steals thew show in a small but delightful role as the estranged mother.
