Chester actor Tom Hughes is to join Doctor Who star Jenna Coleman in a new period drama for ITV.
The former Upton High School student and patron of Jigsaw Music Theatre will play Prince Albert in the forthcoming Victoria with Ms Coleman, until recently the Doctor’s companion Clara Oswald, in the title role.
Tom may even be able to visit parents Roy and Sue, who live in the Garden Quarter, during filming which is taking place in the North of England.
The eight-part series, which will hit our screens in the autumn of 2016, follows the early life of the second longest reigning British monarch behind our own Queen Elizabeth II, from her accession to the throne at 18 through to her romance and marriage to Prince Albert.
Hughes won’t make an appearance until the third episode when he begins to make an impression on the young Queen.
The 29-year-old, who is best known for his roles in BBC dramas Dancing on the Edge and Silk, recently starred alongside Niamh Cusack and Anthony Head in Paul Andrew Williams’ debut play Ticking in the West End.
