Popular outdoor cinema in the heart of Chester is to return this summer.
Film fans can watch a movie during the popular Moonlight Flicks season at Chester’s Roman Garden from July 7 until August 29th, with 40 screenings of six different films, five evenings a week.
Thousands of moviegoers can enjoy the season as organisers announce something to suit all ages and tastes, with everything from gritty thriller Drive to family comedy Paddington.
Also featured in the line-up is the colourful 1939 musical The Wizard of Oz, cult classic The Big Lebowski, vintage hits Some Like It Hot and Roman Holiday starring Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn respectively, plus multi Academy Award winning The Grand Budapest Hotel and movie phenomenon Mamma Mia.
Andrew Bentley, chief executive of Chester Performs, said: “We are delighted with this year’s programme. Last year saw thousands attend screenings, so we have increased the schedule from four nights a week to five.
“Chester is really good at coming out and enjoying events and festivals that are staged in the region. We wanted to offer something for families, couples, groups of friends and film buffs - we hope they agree.”
Last year more than 5,000 tickets were sold for the season, with the festival becoming a mainstay in Chester’s growing cultural calendar. As in previous years the film’s audio will be streamed through headphones to ensure maximum sound quality.
Movies are screened form 8.45pm (dusk), tickets are from £8.50/£7 and under 12s go free. Find out more and book at www.moonlightflicks.co.uk or call 0845 241 7868.
