A Chester actor who has landed a leading role in an upcoming British film alongside Hollywood actors says it was always his dream to make it to the big screen.
Ashley Woods, who has been prominent on the city’s acting scene for years, plays one of the main characters in the independent crime thriller The Antwerp Dolls where he stars alongside actors Bruce Payne, Sebastian Foucan and Sean Cronin.

The independent film, directed by Jake Reid, tells the story of a ruthless businessman’s payoff to the Belgian mafia which is then intercepted by his revenge-seeking former protegees, launching a deadly war of violence and double-dealing.
His role as Corey is a dream come true for 33-year-old Ashley, who has played major roles in Chester Mystery Plays and Tip Top Productions.
He told The Chronicle: “It’s always been a dream of mine to act in a film so I was honoured and flattered to be a part of this. I’ve been obsessed with films since I can remember so seeing how a film was put together was a great experience for me.
“Even though the film has a very modest budget the calibre of talent and professionalism from both cast and crew mirrored a high end production. There was a real sense of excitement on set because I think we could all tell something unique was being created.
“Unfortunately I did not have any scenes with Bruce, Sebasitian or Sean, unlike some of my co-stars who confirmed how beneficial their contribution to the film has been, not to mention a delight to work with. But I look forward to finally meeting them in person at the premiere in London,” he added.
The Antwerp Dolls has gone on to win numerous awards on the American independent film festival circuit including best feature at the Poinciana and Trindiefest festivals.
It gets its UK premiere on May 21 in London and then a general release on Netflix and ITunes later on in the month. A DVD will also be released at some point in the autumn.
