Chester may no longer have a cinema but that doesn’t mean film fans are going to be starved of big screen entertainment.
The 2014 Chester International Film Festival - the 28th time such an event has taken place - comes to the city from March 6-15.
The festival presents this diverse collection of some of the finer films of world cinema in a relaxing and appreciative atmosphere. This year, it is presenting films from 15 countries.
The venue for the festival will be St Mary’s Centre, one of Chester’s magical hidden gems.
Doors open for each screening at 7pm and refreshments are available. Films start at 7.45pm.
This year, the festival will promote talented UK and worldwide animators following a call for submissions to the event.
Animators were invited to submit films to this event and organisers received hundreds of entries from all over the world. After a lengthy selection process, they narrowed it down to 12 films.
Two will be shown each night before the main feature and the highest rated will be presented before the final film on Saturday, March 15.
Main films showing during the festival are: March 6 - Mao’s Last Dancer ; March 7 - I’m So Excited ; March 8 - The Great Beauty ; March 11 - Even The Rain ; March 13 - Paris-Manhattan ; March 14 - The Deep ; March 15 - Fitzcarraldo .
Tickets are �3.50, or you can buy a special pass for just �10 allowing entry to any four films.
