Visitors to Sandiway Library near Northwich can now quench their thirst on term-time Thursday mornings thanks to a partnership with the Petty Pool Trust.

The new Petty Pool Café is open and students and tutors from Petty Pool College are on hand from 10am to 12.30pm serving hot and cold drinks, biscuits and cake.

The project was inspired by the setting up of the Novel Bites café in Winsford Library last year, which is run by Mid-Cheshire College.

Cheshire West and Chester Cllr Charles Fifield said: “I wish the students and tutors every success with their new venture. This is another wonderful example of how our libraries are at the heart of our communities, providing a wide range of services for visitors.

“I’ve also been pleased to also see them helping out at events at the library too, like the Summer Reading Challenge awards ceremony.”

Linda Walker from Petty Poole College said: “It is great to be working in partnership with Sandiway Library. It is giving our students fantastic experience and the chance to practice their customer service and hospitality skills. Thank you to the library staff and all our customers old and new.”
