Animals of all shapes, sizes and species were the special guests at a family event which celebrated the region’s much-loved pets.
Visitors and their many four-legged companions enjoyed a range of pet-inspired activities and displays from pony rides to ferret racing and a fun dog show, judged by Fern Gresty of Four Paws Pet Services in Cuddington.
There was also a chance to meet and greet some of the world’s most unusual creatures including a 12-foot albino Burmese python, giant spiders, a Caimen crocodile, sugar gliders and a skunk in the exotics tent run by Warrington Pets and Exotics.
There were demonstrations by Wagtaills School of Dog Training and the award-winning Wilmslow Wild Dogs Fly Ball Team and a host of trade stalls for families to browse.
Local charities, including Cat Homing and Rescue, Warrington Animal Welfare, the Chinese Crested Club of GB Rescue and Cheshire Dogs’ Home, were also invited to showcase their good work at the event organised by Willows Veterinary Group.
Willows Veterinary Group offers a wealth of knowledge and expertise through 24 small animal practices, a referral veterinary hospital, two equine centres and a five-office farm practice which are located across Cheshire and into the Wirral and Staffordshire. Company spokesman for the Willows Veterinary Group David Crane said: “It’s been a fantastic day and we have had some terrific feedback from our visitors who have enjoyed the range of activities on offer which have all been about celebrating our pets and what they mean to us all.
“The sun came out and shone for the most part which was a terrific bonus and the Kelsall Hill Equestrian Centre setting couldn’t have been more pleasant.
“It was lovely to see so many families and their mainly canine companions coming out to enjoy the event with us.”
Zoe Roberts, of Winsford, who was at the event with her partner Stephen Hooks and the couple’s two sons, Louie, five, and Noah, seven months, said: “It’s been a really great experience and it offers something which Louie wouldn’t normally get to do very often. It has been a special day for the whole family and we have really enjoyed it.”
