A society ball raised £9,500 towards a charity’s ambition to build a support centre in Sandiway for families affected by childhood cancer.

The Joshua Tree’s Golden Ball was held at Nunsmere Hall Hotel as part of International Childhood Cancer Awareness Month (#CCAM).

Guests at the fairytale-themed evening, including charity patron DJ Mark Radcliffe, were treated to a three-course meal and entertainment from Josh Whittaker and Paul Pashley.

Event sponsor David Hodgson from Persimmon Homes North West said: “The Golden Ball was a huge success, with guests enjoying a glittering evening of music and fundraising.

“All of the team based at our Urmston headquarters are proud to support this very worthy charity and this event raised much-needed funds for The Joshua Tree’s #digdeep campaign to build a dedicated support centre for families affected by childhood cancer in Sandiway by May 2016.”

Joshua Tree charity founder Lynda Hill added: “September is such an important awareness raising month for families affected by childhood cancer. Thanks to the generosity of supporters like Persimmon Homes and Nunsmere Hall Hotel we can reach a wider audience of supporters from across the region by holding an event like our Golden Ball. Events like this are crucial for enabling us to reach our fundraising goals and, ultimately, begin work on our much needed support centre.”
