A family fun day to raise funds for a church organ will also mark 90 years since a fire destroyed the site where Oulton Park lies today.

Six people lost their lives when flames ripped through Oulton Hall in Little Budworth, home to the affluent Egerton family, on Valentine’s Day 1926.

The site was eventually fully demolished and Oulton Park racing circuit built more than 30 years later.

To commemorate the anniversary Little Budworth Parish Church are holding a sponsored family fun run, walk or cycle at the track on Sunday February 21 to raise funds for the restoration of their church organ.

The day will begin with a service of worship at 11am which will include a short commemoration of the fire, before the track opens for walking and running at noon. Cycling starts at 2.45pm but participants must get involved before 3.45pm.

Stuart Smith, one of the organisers of the event said: “This will be a very special event for the village and community; a great day for all the family. We are hoping anyone with a connection to Little Budworth will want to come along and join in.”
