Chalice Productions, The Boaty Theatre Company and The National Waterways Museum have teamed up to present The Nativity is Cancelled! on Thursday and Friday (December 18-19).

Performances take place at the National Waterways Museum in Ellesmere Port.

This follows Chalice Productions’ most recent success with Romeo and Juliet at Montague Cafe.

Writer and director of the production, Laura J Harris, said: “I’m delighted, as ever, with the level of commitment from our troupe of young and not-so-young actors.

“They’ve all been working really hard and have even discovered some new talents along the way. There’s some fun role reversal with the older actors playing the children and our young actors as the teachers. It should be good fun.”

The children at Canalside County Primary School are devastated to discover that this year’s nativity has been cancelled.

However, with some help from their dedicated teachers, Mr Whistle and Miss Patience, and some resourceful ingenuity they hope to present their parents and the school governors with a nativity unlike any other.

An entertaining new play the delves into the ‘behind-the-scenes’ action of one of the nation’s most chaotic traditions - the school nativity.

Humorous and often poignant, The Nativity is Cancelled also features some of the best-loved Christmas carols.

Tickets £4 each. Call 0151 355 5017 for details and to book.
