Comedian and entertainer Russ Abbot has sent a message of support to Chester Scouts ahead of their 60th annual Gang Show in the city this February.

This celebratory show, in its jubilee year, will be performed at the Vanbrugh Theatre at The King’s School from February 16-20.

Mr Abbot, born in Ellesmere Port and educated at Queen’s Park High School, said: “As a team event involving Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorers, Network and leaders Gang Show has no equal; it brings out the best in people and encourages personal development and self-esteem in the true spirit of Scouting and is what we need to encourage so that Scouting in Chester remains vibrant for many years ahead.

“All concerned have been tireless in their enthusiasm and have been fantastic to work with. They are a credit to themselves and their Scout Groups. I am so very proud of each and every one of them, well done, Gang.”

There will be a few favourite items from previous shows including one voted for by the cast to be refreshed and reprised for this jubilee production. The musical numbers range from salsa dancing to modern street dance with plenty of comedy in between.

There are 102 members of the Gang, with 11 sibling groups, five groups with parent and child and three groups with grandparents and grandchildren as well as three husband and wife teams.
