Talented performers from the Chester and Ellesmere Port area are being given a second chance to audition to support the professional touring cast at the Pavilion Theatre in Rhyl when hit musical Her Benny is staged in March.

Anne Dalton, the show’s writer and producer, said: "Her Benny is large scale and the juvenile leads are tremendously important. Our last visit to the theatre unearthed so much talent, it was staggering as we welcome auditionees from within a 50 mile radius.”

Apart from the two starring children’s roles of Benny and his sister, Nell, the production also offers excellent opportunities for a strong junior ensemble and for older students to work alongside the adult professionals.

The musical, which won The International Quest for New Musicals, is based on the original book Her Benny, written by a Methodist Minister called Silas K Hocking in 1879. The book made Hocking the first ever million-selling novelist and the musical always plays to packed houses.

The open auditions will be held on Sunday, December 13 at 10am at Trefnant Village Hall, which will be the venue for the production rehearsals. Times and information can be found on the website www.abdproductions.co.uk by accessing the auditions link or by contacting ABD Productions on 01704 880607/889360 or by mobile 07814 618531 or emailing abd@abdproductions.co.uk.

Her Benny is a classic rags to riches, heart warming tale of a young orphan boy’s struggle to survive the harsh streets during the intense poverty of the Victorian era and to look after his sister, little Nell.

The show runs at the Pavilion Theatre in Rhyl from March 9-12. For tickets contact the box office on 01745 330000 or visit www.rhylpavilion.co.uk.
