The wait is almost over for the Cheshire Oaks Christmas lights switch on.

The annual switch-on of the iconic Christmas tree will take place tonight Wednesday, November 9.

It has been claimed the designer outlet will have Europe's largest walk-in artificial tree, with it being the same height as seven buses.

More than 100,00 decorations and five miles worth of lighting will help bring the tree to life.

Visitors will be able to walk through a magical archway to get inside the tree where they'll witness thousands of twinkling lights .

To celebrate the occasion, there will be entertainment throughout the evening starting at 6pm, with local choir Vox Pox set to perform.

There will also be Christmas characters walking around, meaning your little one can meet Santa Claus and his elves while waiting to see the illuminations.

Festive treats will be handed out to the crowd during the night, until the lights are switched on at 7.30pm, at this time a firework display will take place.

The tree itself will be staffed by volunteers from Claire House Children’s Hospice, who provide care to children with life threatening illnesses.

Although entrance is free, donations are recommended to help support their work.

In the build-up to the festive season, Cheshire Oaks are bringing back their Christmas Corner which features an Après themed bar which will be decked and decorated in traditional style.

There will also be a carousel, a German bar selling beers and gluhwein, festive swing grill, hot chocolate, crepes and pick &mix stalls as the big day nears.

Kenny Murray, centre manager at Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet, said: “Our traditional and now iconic Christmas tree is always a real draw for festive shoppers and we hope to make this year even bigger and better with a new and improved Christmas Corner and lots of exciting in centre activities.

"With over £40,000 raised for a variety of charities over the years, we are proud to be partnering with Clare House Children’s Hospice for 2016 and hope to help them raise a significant amount for their incredible cause.”
