Chester has plenty to celebrate after a string of city venues received accolades in a national hotel survey.
Three hotels in Chester and one in Frodsham feature in LateRooms.com's annual Simply The Guest Awards which recognise and reward the highest standards in the hotel industry across a number of categories.
The awards are the only ones in the UK to focus solely on reviews and ratings left by guests.
First up is the recently refurbished Saddle Inn on Grosvenor Street, Chester, which beat off competition from hotels in London, Gloucestershire and Norwich to come third in the UK's best historic hotels category.
Laterooms describes the Saddle as a large historical building located near the Roman amphitheatre and Chester Walls. It enables its guests to 'truly immerse themselves in the city's thriving cultural landscape'.
In the best City Centre hotels category, Chester's Mill Hotel was tenth, described as 'Chester's favourite venue'.
The Mill was praised for its waterside location within the centre of our Roman city, with reference to its 60ft swimming pool, jacuzzi, steam room and state of the art techno-gym.
The Kings Guest House in Eaton Road Handbridge came ninth in the Family Friendly category.
The family run, friendly Victorian guest house is in a prime position just a short walk from Chester city centre via a pleasant stroll over the river, according to Laterooms. Children are welcome and a cot and high chair can be provided at no extra cost.
As for love, Forest Hills Hotel in Frodsham was named the third most romantic for its panoramic views across the Cheshire plains and the Mersey Estuary.
Special mention was made of the Hilltops Restaurant, known for the quality of its food and service, and the events it holds, such as its gourmet and casino nights and summer BBQs.
