The line-up of plays has been revealed for the 2014 season of Grosvenor Park Open Air Theatre productions in Chester.

Chester Performs, the arts organisation behind the project, is gearing up for its fifth season of open air shows in the city centre beauty spot of Grosvenor Park.

And this summer, the line-up will feature:

Macbeth - the infamous Scottish play and one of William Shakespeare’s most enduringly popular tragedies.

The Secret Garden - a new adaptation by Jessica Swale of the classic 1910 children’s novel written by Frances Hodgson Burnett.

The Comedy of Errors - one of Shakespeare’s earliest plays, and his shortest, establishes many of the themes he would explore again in his later comedies.

The Grosvenor Park Open Air Theatre seasons continue to grow in popularity and last year’s line-up of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Cyrano De Bergerac and Othello was a virtual sell-out.

A spokesperson for Chester Performs said: “As ever, prices change with demand and this year we have introduced massive savings for teenagers and young people, even for our family productions.”

The season will run from July 4-August 24. Public booking opens today (Thursday, January 30).
