Chester Music Society has been fortunate to engage the international oboist Nicholas Daniel and pianist Julius Drake for their latest Celebrity Concert on Wednesday, November 12 at 7.30pm in St Mary’s Centre.
Nicholas Daniel’s long and distinguished career began in 1980 when he won the BBC Young Musician of the Year Competition.
As one of the UK’s most distinguished soloists as well as a highly successful conductor, he has become an important ambassador for music and musicians in many different fields.
Nicholas has been heard on every continent, and has been a concerto soloist with many of the world’s leading orchestras and conductors. In recognition of this, he was recently awarded the prestigious Queen’s Medal for Music.
The pianist Julius Drake specialises in the field of chamber music, working with many of the world’s leading artists, both in recital and on disc. He appears at all the major music centres: in recent seasons, concerts have taken him to Edinburgh, Munich, Salzburg, New York, Wigmore Hall, BBC Proms and many more.
Their programme includes works by Bach, Britten, Musgrave, Schumann and Elgar.
