Writer Laura-Kate Barrow is about to have her latest work presented on stage in Chester.

She began writing as part of the Chester Performs Young Company in 2012 and is now the current writer on attachment at the Everyman Theatre and the Playhouse in Liverpool.

Her latest work - Because She Loved the Lion - is a powerful play about family relationships and what happens when they break down.

It’s the story of a mother, her daughter, her sister and a mouse consumed by a lion with a beautiful mane.

With strong roles for women, Because She Loved the Lion is being performed by Lady Parts Theatre Company at the Salisbury Studio, Chester Little Theatre, on Saturday, June 7 at 7.30pm.

Lady Parts Theatre Company was formed in 2013 with a mission to create and promote strong roles for women.

It already boasts some of Liverpool’s most exciting new actors, writers and directors as associates.

The director Peter Mitchelson runs Shiny New Theatre, a Liverpool-based company specialising in new writing and festivals.

A collection will be made at each performance for Refuge, the domestic abuse charity.  The charity’s advice has been invaluable throughout the re-drafting process.

Tickets are £8 and £6 concessions.  To book, call 0844 870 0887 or visit the Chester Little Theatre website www.chestertheatreclub.co.uk to book online. Tickets may also be available on the door.
