Emmerdale actor John Bowe is to perform at the Neuromuscular Centre’s 19th Spirit of Christmas concert at Chester Cathedral on Friday, November 28.
John is best known for his TV and film roles including The Living Daylights (1987), Cleopatra (1999) and for playing Duggie Ferguson in Coronation Street from 1999-2002. In 2014 he joined the cast of Emmerdale playing Lawrence White.
John Bowe is also renowned for his theatre roles, starring as Bob in the West End production of Priscilla Queen of the Desert in 2010 and as Judge Turpin in Sweeney Todd in 2011.
Ensuring the festive season starts with a sparkle, the annual Spirit of Christmas carol concert is a star studded affair hosted by the charity’s president Matthew Kelly, of Stars in their Eyes fame.
Previous stars have included Alan Rickman, Carey Mulligan, Tamsin Greig, Jim Broadbent, Sir Derek Jacobi and Jim Carter to name but a few.
Returning will be the Roberts Bakery Band and The Queen’s School Chamber Choir.
A county-wide choir competition for primary school children between the ages of 7 and 11 has been launched, sponsored by Dawsons Music in association with Chester’s Dee Radio 106.3.
The winning choir will have the opportunity to perform at Spirit of Christmas 2014 in front of an audience of more than 1,000 and will also receive a digital piano for their school.

The Neuromuscular Centre (NMC) is a small Cheshire charity that provides a range of unique services for adults and young people with muscular dystrophy.
These services include physiotherapy and hydrotherapy, support and advice, training in graphic design and IT and sheltered employment opportunities, all with the aim of improving the quality of life for those living with this devastating, deteriorating condition.
