A young Chester actress has won the role the mother of the war poet Wilfred Owen.

Jodie Forshaw, 25, will tour nationally this year with the production, entitled Vilomah.

It is the sequel to Bullets And Daffodils which played to packed houses in London's West End last year.

Written by musician Dean Johnson, the new show once again features the poems of Wilfred Owen adapted as contemporary songs.

The musical's title translates as ‘against the natural order’ and the theme of the piece is the sense of loss that mothers feel when losing a son in conflict.

This was felt very strongly by Owen's mother Susan, who learned of her son's death on Armistice Day itself.

Jodie, who sings as well as acting in the show, comes from a military family, with both her father and brother having seen active service.
