HELSBY overcame a 14-point half-time deficit despite being a man short for much of the game.
The visitors had an early shock, when the home side scored after breaking from a scrum.
And things only got worse for Helsby when they were reduced to 14 men when second-row forward Smith had to leave the field.
The home side scored a second try, using their advantage in the scrum to score a pushover try.
Undeterred, Helsby got themselves back in the game when Jimmy Walker went over from a quick tap-penalty move with John Williams converting.
But Park again used their advantage up front to score just before half-time to make the score 21-7.
A stirring team talk seemed to do the trick for Helsby.
Within two minutes, Williams powered through to score and he also added the extras.
Helsby brought themselves right back into the game when wing Chris McKean crossed following good hands along the back line.
And they promptly took a first-time lead when Williams worked a clever switch move with Bob Merrill to score his second touchdown.
The best was yet to come, however. Helsby's backs worked an excellent play to put centre Mark Wakefield through a gap to cross with Williams again converting.
Winnington did score again near the end but it proved to be mere consolation against a very committed Helsby.
Frodsham Tandoori MoM was stand-off Merrill for his excellent distribution and vision.
Helsby are at home to title rivals Merseyside Police this Saturday.
