NORTHWICH reached the Cheshire Vase final with a relentless display of total rugby, never taking their foot off the accelerator on Wednesday.

Tries came from John Brotherton, Graham Robinson, Jamie Miratana, Rick Smith, Dean Thompson, Gareth Davies, Steve Campbell (2) and David Khanyile (4). Gary Bell landed nine conversions with Campbell picking up one.

In their previous outing Northwich beat Dukinfield 99-0.

Their rugby was played at a breathtaking pace and Wilmslow must have wondered what had hit them. The non-stop pressure the Blacks forwards applied was impossible to counter. This platform enabled the Northwich backs to play with total freedom, punctuated by the four try haul of winger Khanyile.

Wilmslow have just been relegated from North West Two and the victory may give Northwich a loose idea of their prospects next season.

They will now play Wirral, whom they have already beaten twice, in the final at Birkenhead Park on Monday, May 7 (3.30pm).
