RUGBY UNION: Widnes make a welcome return to league action at Liverpool St-Helens in Powergen North Two West this Saturday - their first outing for three weeks after a postponement and free weekend.
Although Widnes continue to struggle at the foot of the table, they will fancy their chances against their nearest rivals who are coached by their ex-long serving hooker Paul Woodward.
'The boys are quietly confident of an upset and raring to go,' said coaching co-ordinator Jimmy O'Neill.
Liam Wilde continues his recovery from a knee injury, replacing the unavailable Steve Vickerstaffe at prop.
Meanwhile, second-team manager Liam McDermott was thrilled to see his team reach the final of the NW England Cup, although the game against Altrincham Kersal was a disappointment after the free-flowing football of the last few weeks.
The second string have another big game on Saturday - league victory over West Park would go a long way to securing a place in the promotion hopefuls.
The in-form third team travel to Southport while on Sunday, the Colts are at West Park (ko 2pm).
