SPIRITED Wids put 11 games without a win behind them on Saturday.

Widnes had gifted Blackburn a fourth-minute try after a dropped pass in mid-field with Barry Greenwood scoring.

Glover landed his first penalty after 14 minutes, but Blackburn hit back with a close-range second try when Alan Haworth crossed.

Glover kept Widnes in the game with three penalties but Gareth Evans knocked over a three pointer to make the score 12-13.

Glover put the Wids in front on 51 minutes with his fifth penalty.

Hazzard released Stu Hussey who released Alex Gardiner under the posts. Glover added the extras.

Gardiner turned provider on 76 minutes when his long pass allowed Michael Bowles to race to the corner.

Glover failed with the conversion. Blackburn scored a late consolation try through Haworth's second. Altrincham Kersal 12 Widnes 2nd 27: Wids triumphed despite injuries and first-team calls.

Adam Higham raced 30 metres for a debut try.

O'Neill broke Altrincham's defence, allowing Leason to score out wide for a 10-0 half-time lead. After the break, Leedam added a brilliant solo try.

Altrincham crossed from a rolling maul. However, Leedam scored under the sticks. Altrincham scored a last-gasp converted try. Widnes Vets 12 Sefton 25: Vets slipped to their second home defeat of the season.

Sefton led 12-0 before Neil Bliss raced in after good work from Riley.

The second half saw Sefton add two more tries before Bliss added his second.
