DAD-TO-BE Ben Foden continues his Rugby World Cup adventure this Saturday when England take on minnows Romania in New Zealand.

It emerged late last week the Chester-born fullback is expecting his first child with pop star girlfriend Una Healy.

Northampton Saints player Foden, 26, was no doubt buoyed by the good news when he lined up in Sunday’s match against Georgia, which England won 41-10. Foden – a former Chester RUFC player who hails from Cholmondeley – set up two tries but Martin Johnson’s team lacked conviction and discipline and are still to hit top form.

Ben’s dad Rob, who is in New Zealand following his son’s progress, is certain England will get better.

He told The Chronicle: “I think England will settle and improve as the competition goes on. We gave away too many penalties early on which gave them a lot of territory.

“We tried to force the game a bit too much but in the end we won comprehensively and scored six tries in the process.”

Rob said he was ‘thrilled’ for Ben and Saturdays singer Una, 29, adding: “We are all looking forward to an addition to the family.”

Rob, a former head coach of Chester RUFC, has spent the week in Queenstown and will be in the Otago Stadium on Saturday when England take on the Romanians in their penultimate Pool B encounter.

The match kicks off at 7am and will be screened live on ITV1.
