Ormskirk 3rds 0 Christleton 62

CHRISTLETON took four points and a much-needed boost in morale from Saturday’s big win at Ormskirk.

The Chester side recovered from a poor patch to post a sizeable victory in Division Four West of the Miller Homes League.

Within minutes on Saturday, captain JJ Jones crossed the line to open the scoring.

Ant McCarthy then went over to bring the score to 12-0.

Jez Birch was next to get in on the act, scoring under the posts to make the conversion a formality.

Just when Christleton thought the first half couldn’t get any better joint man of the match Chris Lightfoot crossed the line twice in rapid succession to give the visitors a 31-0 lead at the break.

There was more of the same from Christleton in the second half.

Matthew Skeels scored and converted his own try, Will Jones darted over and McCarthy then registered his second of the afternoon.

Phil McKenzie, who shared the MoM award with Lightfoot, assisted Paul Masher in scoring his first try for the club.

Recent signing Masher then added another and the only negative for Christleton was an ankle injury sustained by Lightfoot.

Christleton travel to Eagle 2nds this Saturday.

Helsby’s home match against Knutsford on Saturday in South Lancs/Cheshire Three was postponed. Helsby are away to Linley this Saturday.
